SICSA spays and or neuters over 6,000 dogs and cats annually. We employ veterinarians who are fully licensed and have performed thousands of spay and neuter surgeries, so your pet is in good hands!
Your pet will receive a short physical exam prior to surgery; if your pet is not fit for surgery we will call you and discuss your options. Certain breeds, pets of advanced age and animals in poor health may be deemed to be too high risk to be safely anesthetized. We may contact you prior to surgery or on the day of surgery if we feel we cannot safely operate on your pet. Full refunds will be granted in these cases. Please note, SICSA typically only does spay/neuter surgeries for animals seven years and younger. If you have an older animal, please call our spay/neuter coordinator. SICSA veterinarians perform pediatric spaying or neutering. Puppies and kittens must be 8 weeks or older and weigh a minimum of 2 lbs. Vaccinations for adults are not required (but strongly recommended) but if your puppy is under 3 months of age, we do require he/she has had at least 1 DHPP vaccination (given elsewhere) before their surgery.
Pets are given sedation medication prior to being placed under general anesthesia. Your pet will be given pain medication effective for 24 hours on the day of surgery. Dogs will go home with an e-collar to aid in a quick recovery.
For your convenience we do surgery five to six days a week. Please make sure you are able to bring your pet on the date you schedule as we are unable to offer refunds of any kind once the service has been paid. You may change your appointment up to 72 hours prior to your scheduled surgery. SICSA will charge a $20 reschedule fee if the appointment is cancelled within 72 hours of the scheduled appointment.
You will be expected to drop off your pet on the day of surgery between 7:15 am and 7:30 am. Please allow up to 45 minutes due to the number of clients. Dogs may be picked up at 3:30 pm; male cat pick up is 3:00 pm and female cats may be picked up at 4:00 pm. All pets must be picked up by 5:00 pm.
Your pet may have a light breakfast (1/4 to 1/3 of the normal amount) and water until you bring them the morning of surgery.
You will receive an email with specific check-in instructions. Please follow these the morning of surgery.
We only schedule surgeries 30 days out from today's date. If you don't see any openings please check back soon!
If you have any questions do not hesitate to contact our spay/neuter coordinator at 937-294-6505 ext.16. WE are here to help!
