Spay & Neuter

SICSA spays and or neuters over 3,600 dogs and cats annually. We employ veterinarians who are fully licensed and have performed thousands of spay and neuter surgeries, so your pet is in good hands!

Your pet will receive a physical exam prior to surgery; if your pet is not fit for surgery we will call you and discuss your options. Please note, SICSA typically only does spay/neuter surgeries for animals seven years and younger. If you have an older animal, please call our spay/neuter coordinator. SICSA veterinarians perform pediatric spaying or neutering. Puppies and kittens must be 8 weeks or older and weigh a minimum of 2 lbs. Vaccinations for adults are not required (but strongly recommended) but if your puppy is under 3 months of age, we do require he/she has had at least 1 DHPP vaccination (given elsewhere) before their surgery.

Pets are given sedation medication prior to being placed under general anesthesia. Your pet will be given pain medication effective for 24 hours on the day of surgery. Dogs will go home with an e-collar to aid in a quick recovery.

All pets except male cats receive a small marking after sterilization that identifies they have been sterilized.
