During our adoption process, we strive to make good matches between people and pets; however, we recognize that there can be some unknowns in terms of how an animal will fit into your home. Slumber parties can help alleviate some of those concerns! Slumber parties allow you to take an animal home for a specified amount of time to see how they do in your home environment before committing to an adoption. Not every animal will be eligible for a slumber party, so talk with the adoption staff during your visit to find out more information.

All of our animals currently available for adoption are listed on our website on the adoptable animal pages. If you see a specific animal you're interested in adopting, we encourage you to submit an online adoption questionnaire and call right away for an appointment. There are some types of animals - like kittens, puppies, and small dogs - who are in high demand and get adopted very quickly. The animals you see on the website may not still be available for adoption when you arrive.

We recognize that each pet is unique and may have different needs, therefore we do not have a standardized list of adoption requirements. Instead, we have conversations with each adopter about what they’re looking for in a pet, their living situation, and which pets might be a good match. Our goals are to find the right pet for your family and to set you up for success!

In most cases, yes. If an adopter needs time to arrange an introduction with another family member or pet or speak with their landlord, we will typically accommodate an adoption hold for approved adopters up to 24 hours.

Yes, all animals adopted from SICSA are spayed or neutered. They are also current on vaccines and microchipped.

It can take time for a new pet to acclimate to your home, and SICSA is here to support you! If you're having concerns regarding your adopted pet, pleaser give us a call. SICSA provides behavior and training assistance whenever possible. We also recognize that sometimes a pet just isn't the right fit. We do our best to accommodate all adoption returns, but we do appreciate a phone call prior to arriving to ensure we have space available. The adoption fees are variable based on species, size, and age. SICSA sets higher adoption fees for some pets to help subsidize the cost for the pets who may take longer to find homes. SICSA is a non-profit organization, and all fees help support our mission!
