Teddy in Training: Our Partnership With HALO K9 Behavior!

If you follow SICSA on social media, you have likely seen the adorable ball of energy that is Teddy (formerly Bullaro). This bouncy boy managed to capture the hearts of not only SICSA’s staff and volunteers, but also those of his loving foster parents. As a team, SICSA, our volunteers, and his foster parents worked with Teddy to teach him the manners needed to be safely and comfortably placed in a home. Despite everyone’s best efforts, Teddy was in need of some additional help. While we are able to provide training for our pets here at SICSA, sometimes individualized care at a higher level is hard to accomplish given the multitude of animals in our care and their varying needs. Though we loved having Teddy at SICSA, we knew that he was in need of more one-on-one behavioral training. For this reason, we are grateful to have the support of our friends at HALO K9 Behavior.

According to HALO’s official website, “HALO’s founder and Executive Direction, Regina Willen, is a Neuroscience and Physiology Scientist. She is a board certified applied animal behaviorist  (ACAAB) with the Animal Behavior Society (ABS) and is an animal behavior consultant with the International Association Of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC). She has extensively studied the behavior of shelter dogs in and out of the shelter.”

With Regina’s expertise, alongisde that of her incredible staff, we knew that HALO would be Teddy’s best shot at reaching his full potential and finding his forever home. Using our Guardian Angel Fund, we were able to send Teddy to this special training program where he continues to flourish and grow into the pup we knew he could be.

The Guardian Angel Fund is a fund SICSA uses to directly support dogs and cats in our care with unique or urgent medical or behavioral challenges. From providing dogs like Teddy with more individualized and rigorous training, to providing pets like Brooklynn livesaving medical procedures, the fund allows SICSA to go the extra mile for pets in need, giving them the second chance they deserve.

With the help of Regina and the Halo K9 Behavior team, Teddy has improved astronomically. From having trouble interacting with other dogs and humans, to now engaging happily and appropriately, Teddy is ready to enter a home. This monumental change is everything SICSA could have hoped for him. None of this would be possible without our sponsors and supporters of the Guardian Angel Fund.  Please join Riegel Financial, Square One Salon and Spa, McGohan Brabender, and Submarine House-Clayton today and support the SICSA Guardian Angel Fund today!
