Unique Ways to Get Involved With SICSA

When you think of volunteering with SICSA, you likely think of activities like walking dogs or cleaning cat kennels. While both of these are great ways to get involved, there are some unique ways to lend a paw with SICSA you may not have known about.

Did you know SICSA owns our own pet food franchise? That’s right- Pet Wants Dayton is owned and operated by SICSA Pet Adoption and Wellness Center! This means all proceeds from Pet Wants Dayton support SICSA, the pets in our care, and those we serve in our community. One major part of Pet Wants Dayton’s operation is baking items like Peanutty Cookies and Sweet Paw-tato Chips for dogs. We make these items right here at SICSA, and can always use additional bakers on our team! Even if you aren’t comfortable in the kitchen, you can still volunteer with Pet Wants by helping with tasks like packaging and labeling. If you’re interested in volunteering with Pet Wants Dayton, send an email to mmisra@sicsa.org for more information.

Maybe sewing is more your forte? If so, Friends of SICSA (FOS) would love to have you on their team! FOS is a group of artisan volunteers who create and sell unique, handmade items, then donate their proceeds to SICSA. Cat and dog toys, crate mats, and quilts are just a few of the items these talented folks craft. Even if you aren’t the crafty type, Friends of SICSA could still use your help with things like pricing items, or helping out at events. If you’re interested in joining Friends of SICSA, email FOS President Heather Saxe at hsaxe@sicsa.org for more information!

No matter your skillset, there’s a place for you on the volunteer team at SICSA. To learn more about volunteering and sign up today, visit www.sicsa.org/volunteer!
