First of Its Kind Franchise Started Right Here in Dayton, Ohio

SICSA Pet Adoption Center Takes Ownership of Pet Wants Dayton

Dayton, OH – What’s better than fresh, high-quality food for your pets? When every dollar raised from purchases is invested back into the local animal welfare community.

When the SICSA Pet Adoption Center heard there was an opportunity to take over the local Pet Wants territory, they saw a chance for growth. Both Pet Wants and SICSA have missions related to animal welfare, and if SICSA took ownership, not only would the animals in their care have access to nutritious pet food, but also the pets in the Dayton community.

Now, with the cooperation and support of the Pet Wants franchise organization, that opportunity has become a reality. The SICSA Pet Adoption Center officially took over ownership of Pet Wants Dayton in June of 2019. This is the first Pet Wants franchise nationally to be owned by a non-profit organization rather than an individual or for-profit LLC.

“The SICSA team and the Pet Wants team realized the similarities in our goals and our missions to help animals live healthier, happier lives.  We understood that, by combining our efforts, we could increase our impact on animals, pet families and our community,” SICSA President & CEO Nora Vondrell said.

“Now that SICSA owns Pet Wants Dayton, proceeds from the purchase of our food and products support SICSA and our animals directly. By supporting Pet Wants Dayton, you are not only saying yes to quality nutrition for your pets, but also to SICSA’s mission which promotes the welfare and adoption of companion pets, while nurturing the loving lifelong relationships between animals and people. Together we can all make a difference,” she added.

Pet Wants’ specially-crafted, private label pet food formulas are made in small batches with fresh, natural ingredients enhanced with vitamins and minerals for a complete and balanced diet in every bowl. Pet Wants Dayton offers multiple blends of dog and cat food formulas as well as healing salve, calming balm, anti-itch spray, paw wax and more. Vondrell said Pet Wants Dayton will continue to have a booth at the 2nd Street Market, but they will be heavily focused on providing free, personal delivery to clients throughout the Miami Valley.  They will also soon be selling from their Adoption Center location at 2600 Wilmington Pike in Kettering.

While owning Pet Wants Dayton was an exciting opportunity for the SICSA team, it also posed some unique challenges.  Of the close to 100 franchise units open across the country, SICSA is the first non-profit organization franchisee. Vondrell worked with the Pet Wants franchise team and Pet Wants President Scott Hoots to tweak the franchise model and the franchise agreement to work for both SICSA and Pet Wants. Hoots is excited to see Vondrell and her team serve even more animals through this new partnership.

“We are thrilled to have the SICSA organization join the ranks of Pet Wants franchise owners. SICSA is a well-respected animal welfare leader.  Their mission fits perfectly with the Pet Wants mission of providing the freshest and most trusted pet food, delivered right to your door. We look forward to a long and successful partnership,” Hoots said.

Pet Wants has a 100-percent, money-back guarantee on the freshness and quality of the food and the company only sources the best salmon, chicken, lamb, brown rice and other ingredients available. There’s no sugar added, no fillers and no animal by-products and Pet Wants never uses corn, wheat, soy or dyes, which makes the food great for animals with allergies.

About Pet Wants: Pet Wants was founded in Cincinnati in 2010 to bring fresh, natural and conveniently-delivered pet food to pet families. Their mission is to enhance the health, vitality and life of pets with high-quality food and honest advice from a Pet Nutrition Specialist on staff at each location. Pet Wants pet food is personally delivered to homes within weeks of being made, at the height of freshness. Their food doesn’t sit in warehouses and on store shelves for many months getting stale and losing nutritional value like it does for most mass-produced, national brands. Pet Wants’ private label pet food formulas are slow-cooked in small batches with fresh, natural ingredients and enhanced with vitamins and minerals for a complete and balanced meal. Pet Wants only uses high-quality proteins and never uses added sugar, fillers, animal by-products, corn, wheat, soy or dyes. Pet Wants offers multiple blends of dog and cat food formulas as well as healing salve, calming balm, anti-itch spray, paw wax and more. Since 2015 Pet Wants has expanded into a national presence and grown to nearly 100 locations. Learn more about Pet Wants at www.PetWants.com.
