Mia’s Lifesaving Story

Mia with her owners after surgery.

When Mia’s owners took her to a local vet clinic, they already knew something was off. Mia’s struggle was apparent, and her owners wanted to do anything they could to help her. Mia was diagnosed with pyometra (infection of the uterus) and her owners were quoted thousands of dollars for her surgery. This was heartbreaking for her loving family who could not afford such a hefty financial emergency. Knowing the pain Mia was facing, they felt the only humane option was to euthanize Mia. Though they loved her deeply and did not want to lose her, Mia’s owners made a difficult call to SICSA to schedule her euthanasia appointment.

When her owners explained the situation, it was clear that Mia, who was otherwise healthy, could be saved. SICSA’s Veterinary Clinic was able to schedule Mia’s lifesaving surgery for the very next day, offering to do the procedure for less than $200. As a direct result of the support SICSA’s clinic receives, Mia’s life was saved. Mia is happy and healthy with her family where she belongs, and her owners did not lose their beloved pup as a result of extreme medical expenses. The sliding scale fees the clinic provides for vital procedures such as this is possible because of the generosity of our community.
