Meet Our New Animal Care Manager: Chris Van Wyk

Earlier this year, SICSA began our search for a new Animal Care Manager, and the wait is finally over! We are ecstatic to have welcome Chris Van Wyk to the SICSA pack in this position! Chris comes to SICSA from Phoenix, Arizona, where he spent the last year and a half working for Maricopa County Animal Care and Control as an Animal Care Technician. In his time there he handled a wide variety of responsibilities for the shelter. From stray intakes to adoptions, kennel sanitization to behavior, Chris did it all. Maricopa County handles over 27,000 stray intakes for dogs and cats annually, so he is looking forward to the change of pace and a deeper level of focus on each individual animal.

Beyond his professional experience, Chris has also volunteered his time at animal shelters across the country for over 20 years. Gaining a deeper understanding of animal behavior is his passion, and he achieved his CPDT-KA in 2019 with a CBCC-KA certification to come in Fall of 2020.

Please join us in welcoming Chris to the SICSA Pack!
