Clear the Shelters: A Month of Adoptions and Donations

2020 has been a year full of twists and turns. One pleasant surprise, however, has been the extension of Clear the Shelters. What would normally last only one day has been transformed into a month long celebration of adoptions and donations across the country. Here at SICSA, we have taken this opportunity to raise funds to continue supporting the animals of the Dayton community, while also offering special adoption opportunities to send pets to their forever homes. In the first week of August, we focused on donations, asking animal advocates to donate through our Greater Good link, where the organization matched said donations up to $10,000. We greatly appreciate the donations we received this week from our amazing supporters!

For week two of Clear the Shelters, we celebrated with an adoption promotion. From August 9th to the 15th, the adoption fee for all adult cats was just $10. On top of this, if adopters chose to adopt a kitten, the adoption fee for a second kitten was waived. This promotion helped us to send home the influx of kittens we saw this kitten season. It also allowed us to send home a number of adult cats seeking families, some having been at SICSA for over a month. Overall, we were grateful to find loving forever homes for so many cats and kittens this week!

During week three, we are once again focusing on fundraising. This week, for a donation of just $5 or more, SICSA supporters have the opportunity to name one of the pets in our care! Your unique, appropriately named pet will be featured on our website when they become available for adoption, so keep an eye on the adoptable pets sections of sicsa.org. If you are interested in donating and naming a pet, you can do so here!

To finish out Clear the Shelters 2020, we have one more surprise up our sleeve! During our final week, we will offer one last adoption promotion before closing out this incredible month. While we aren’t revealing what that surprise is just yet, you can follow us on Instagram @sicsa, or find us on Facebook, where we will make our exciting announcement soon!
