Clear The Shelters 2020

Here at SICSA, we are once again participating in Clear the Shelters, and this year will be the longest event yet. In past years, SICSA has joined in the nationwide pet adoption event by hosting a single-day adoption promotion. This year, however, Clear the Shelters will take place throughout the entirety of August, and we are participating all month long!

Clear the Shelters is a nation-wide pet adoption event with the goal of aiding pet adoption. With the help of NBC and Telemundo owned stations, Clear the Shelters has been helping place pets since 2015. Since its inception, Clear the Shelters has aided in the adoption of more than 410,000 pets.

With this year’s “Adopt & Donate” campaign in mind, we are hoping to send a lot of animals to loving homes; but if people aren’t looking to add a pet to their family, there are still other opportunities to participate. During the first week of this month-long event, we are asking supporters to donate through Greater Good, where donations will be matched up to $10,000! Each remaining week in August, we will have a different theme or promotion, so we encourage our supporters to follow our social media pages for an exciting announcement at the beginning of each week.

Given the ongoing complications of COVID-19, we have had to rework a number of our fundraising events. About Clear the Shelters, SICSA Director of Adoption and Placement Services, Jessie Sullivan said, “While things will look different this year, we are excited to continue to participate in Clear the Shelters and have the opportunity to not only find great homes for all our animals, but to also raise the critical funding necessary to continue to offer our vital services to the community”. Safety will be a priority during the month’s in-person events. SICSA will maintain social distancing and public health guidelines, while also requiring all visitors to wear a mask. The number of visitors in the building will also be restricted. Even so, we still hope to send many pets to their forever homes this month.
