Cat-mas in July: Event Wrap Up

Kitten season at SICSA has been thriving here at SICSA this year. Many of Kitty City’s recent residents have been under six months old, and a number of young kittens are also currently in foster care. On top of this, we have had a constant flow of adult cats coming into our care. Add COVID to the mix, and you have a bustling Kitty City, full of residents ready to find forever homes. While our Adoptions Staff has been hard at work matching cats and kittens to their new families, we knew we would have to kick things up a notch to find these pets proper homes, and make space for new arrivsals!

Thus, the idea was born: Cat-mas in July! On July 16th and 17th, we held this name-your-own-price adoption event. Over the course of just two days, our Adoptions Team was able to send home 20 cats and kittens! On top of this, they also sent 9 dogs to their new families! While maintaining our safety guidelines and allowing only a few people in a given zone at a time, the team ensured all of these animals went to loving homes. This allowed us to make more kennel space for the ongoing influx of cats and kittens that we continue to take in, as other local shelters have been unable to do so. Overall, we are ecstatic with the outcome of the event. We are grateful for the adopters who brought these pets into their forever homes, and the adoptions team who helped send them there!
