About the Mini Camps

Camp SICSA is a Humane Education program for PreK-8th grade students that teaches empathy, respect, kindness and responsibility toward animals.

The mini camps can be scheduled for school, youth, or scout groups.

What is included?

All mini camps are about 90 minutes and include a tour of SICSA's adoption center, a visit in the cat room and puppy town and “chosen” theme activity.  Each group also receives a hardcover book to reinforce humane concepts learned at Camp SICSA for their classroom. The 2012-2013 school year's book is “Let’s Get a Pup!” Said Kate by Bob Graham.

Mini Camp Fees

Camps are $6 a student with a $60 minimum.  For all Mini Camps booked after May 1st, 2012, a $60 non-refundable deposit is due at the time of booking.  This fee is applicable towards the final cost of your Mini Camp.

Choose Your Mini Camp

Tots and Tales PreK-2nd Grade

Children will learn how to interact  appropriately with pets and learn basic pet care including a visit with SICSA pup or cat. Book List

Service Project Camp  K-8th Grade  

Students will choose a pet and make an “adopt me” poster that can be displayed at school or businesses to help a homeless pet find their new home.

SICSA Science 3rd – 8th Grade

Students will see real life science and learn more about the science of caring for animals at SICSA.   Children will also have a visit with SICSA puppies or kittens.  Scouts will be eligible for their Pet Care Badge.

For Teachers

Classroom Paw-Pack TO GO              

$100

SICSA will come to your classroom with puppies or kittens and deliver a  paw-pack of humane education materials for your classroom to keep.  We can also schedule a Skype  question /answer session with your class. 

Here is what your pack includes:

SICSA tote, It’s Raining Cats and Cats by Jeanne Prevost with readers theatre scripts, “Let’s Get a Pup!” Said Kate by Bob Graham with lesson plan, "Are You Ready for a Dog" Kit, SICSA bookmarks, adopt a class certificate and paw-pack booklist poster of humane education books.

Classroom Pack is scheduled Monday-Friday between 10am-2pm for kitten/puppy visit and delivery of paw-pack.   Skype question and answer session can be scheduled at the same time or a different day or time.
