About the Camps
Camp SICSA is a Humane Education program for PreK-8th grade students that teaches empathy, respect, kindness and responsibility toward animals. We have partnered with Miami Valley Pet Therapy Association who bring therapy dog teams to each camp.
The camps can be scheduled for school, youth, or scout groups.

SICSA Science
3rd – 8th Grade
Students will see real life science, with a registered veterinary technician, viewing animal parasites under microscopes, listening to dog, cat and rat pulse and respirations with a stethoscope, viewing X-rays of some crazy things in dog’s stomachs, and learn more about the science of caring for animals at SICSA. Students will use inquiry activities and critical thinking to be good problem solvers. Depending upon the date and time of your camp, students can view an animal surgery, meet with a veterinarian and examine animal organs.
Scouts will be eligible for their Pet Care Badge.
Tots and Tales
PreK-2nd Grade
SICSA storyteller reads exciting, award winning books about animals with Miami Valley Pet Therapy’s therapy dogs. Children will interact with therapy dogs and make a puppet or cat toy to take home.
Readers Theater
3rd – 8th Grade
This lively camp keeps students excited and enthusiastic about animals and reading. Students will listen, read, rehearse and perform! We’ve chosen humorous humane education stories and made them into scripts for students to perform. Students get a book and scripts for their classroom or home library to provide more opportunity to reread text and practice fluency while promoting cooperative interaction.
