Mrs. Ohio Helps SICSA
Stephanie Gooden, Mrs. Ohio America, is an advocate for animal rescue and has the goal to raise funds for organizations like SICSA that help animals in shelters. Stephanie won the title of Mrs. Ohio America 2009June 7 in Columbus, Ohio during the Mrs. Ohio America State finals.
“My two dogs were rescued dogs and one was so badly abused he nearly died,” said Stephanie. “I saw how difficult it was for animals in shelters because of limited funds and space. Animals are put to sleep because there are not enough homes for every pet. Every summer throughout college, I was a veterinary technician and I have a huge place for animals in my heart. Few people will step up for them, but as Mrs. Ohio America, I am.”
Stephanie has adopted SICSA to help highlight pet overpopulation and homeless animals. “Stephanie has been invaluable to us, helping us raise funds and get media attention to focus on the plight of homeless animals.” Say Executive Director, Terry Carlisle. “She is not only beautiful but caring and generous. Stephanie was running a calculator and doing paperwork at the end of SICSA’s dog wash event to help busy volunteers.” Stephanie also donated items to the Red Dog Auction and helped raise an extra $20,000 for our guardian angel fund.
We are indebted to Stephanie for her time, talent and treasure. She is a wonderful role model for young girls and we appreciate her and all the time she has spent helping our animals. You can meet Stephanie, Mrs. Ohio, at the Kettering Mayor’s Charity Ball on April 24, 2010. Make reservations by calling Melissa Johnson at 643-2064.
